EP Election – Fidesz To Start Campaign Tour On Monday
Budapest, April 29 (MTI) – The ruling Fidesz-Christian Democrat alliance will start a nationwide campaign tour on Monday, ahead of the European parliamentary election on May 25, MEP candidates of the two parties told a press conference.
Senior officials and MEP candidates of the alliance will meet voters at some 120 locations across the country, Balazs Hidveghi and Csaba Domotor said, adding that the tour will probably end on May 18, the last Sunday before the election.
The tour will focus on the message that “we need deputies in Brussels that can promote Hungary’s interests and fight both left and right extremism,” Domotor said.
“We do not want the EU to tell us how we should make our palinka, nor do we want them to define how many acacia trees we can plant,” Hidveghi said, who also pointed to the importance of Hungary’s public utility cuts programme and that of protecting arable land in the country.
Hidveghi noted that his party’s EP list included candidates from neighbouring countries, and said that Hungary was “taking responsibility for the whole of the nation”.
