Parliament passes public education law amendments
Budapest, June 13 (MTI) – Lawmakers passed on Monday a package of amendments to the public education law which ensures operating a less centralised school management system and broadens the scope of employees to receive a pay hike in the education sector.
Under the new rules state school manager Klik will be replaced by 59 school district centres, nine of them operating in Budapest. State schools will operate under the auspices of the school districts which will manage school property.
The school districts will be coordinated by an “intermediary level” organisation overseen directly by the human resources ministry.
The new rules provide for increasing the wages of employees with degrees in education who work in an educational institution other than a school. The rules also allow for increasing the wages of teachers based on their performance.
The amendments were passed with 120 votes in favour, 64 against and one abstention.
