Hungarian charities help migrants at Croatian, Austrian borders
Budapest (MTI) – Hungarian charities are continuously helping migrants on the Croatian and Austrian borders, providing them with food, drinks, clothing, blankets and bandages.
Boaz Kis of the Ecumenical Charity said the charity on Friday night set up a large heated tent on the border with Croatia to accommodate migrants arriving there by train. He said that over the past few days the charity’s team comprising humanitarian experts, interpreters and volunteers helped 1,500 to 2,000 people a day in three countries.
Tamas Romhanyi of the Hungarian Maltese Charity said the organisation’s staff provided care for some 1,000 migrants arriving from Croatia on Friday night. He said the migrants were given sandwiches, water, tea and warm clothes.
Viktoria Csapo of the Catholic Charity said the charity’s volunteers have been busy caring for migrants in Szentgotthard for the past ten days.
