Big tailback at Austrian border
Budapest, August 29 (MTI) – Cars, buses and vans are having to wait 1.5 hours at the Hegyeshalom border crossing into Austria from Hungary on the M1 motorway due to checks by the Austrian border authority, a local police spokesperson said on Monday afternoon.
The tailback was over three kilometres at the time of the report. Drivers were being asked to take alternative routes over the border.
Austria have been checking vehicles for people smugglers and illegal migrants on the Hungary-Austria border since April 25.
