Budapest Airport’s summer schedule began today with new airlines, multiple new destinations and additional flights!

The 2025 summer season will bring the widest and most varied range of flights in the history of Budapest Airport, which has been part of the VINCI Airports network since 2024. The 13.8 million seats and 136 destinations accessible by direct flights will set a new record in the history of Ferenc Liszt International Airport.

The operator has announced eleven new connections for the summer schedule, which comes into effect on 30 March:

  • Wizz Air will operate flights to Bilbao, Girona, Vilnius, Venice, Gdansk and Wroclaw,
  • Ryanair will serve Castellón and Katowice,
  • New airline partners will launch several new flights:

“We are proud to offer our passengers more destinations than ever before this summer, and I am confident that everyone will find the airline that best suits their needs to start their holiday. Our new airline development strategy, coupled with VINCI Airports’ extensive network of airline partners, is already delivering very promising results,” said François Berisot, CEO of Budapest Airport. He added: “Moreover, the record-breaking summer schedule will not only benefit Hungarian travellers but will also further strengthen tourism in Hungary, where we are experiencing steadily growing demand, thanks to Budapest’s attractiveness.”

Several airlines will increase capacities from Budapest Airport

Traffic between Hungary and China is also continuing to grow, with 357,300 seats available this season—an increase of 100,000 from last year, representing a 24 per cent rise. The steady growth in demand between the two countries reflects both the strong economic ties between them and the increasing tourism interest in Hungary.

Among existing airline partners, Lufthansa, Eurowings, KLM, and easyJet will significantly increase their capacity, while Aer Lingus and Aegean Airlines will increase the weekly frequency of their flights to five, improving connections to the US and the Greek islands. The capacity increase to Israel will result in Budapest offering the most seats to and from Israel of any airport in the region this summer.

Cancelled flights

According to Budflyer, the beginning of the summer schedule also means the closure of some popular routes. Among the long-haul flights, Polish airline LOT’s Seoul route will not operate this summer. Furthermore, Hungarian budget airline Wizz Air will cease flights from Budapest to Bucharest-Otopeni and Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. Additionally, Aeroexpress will discontinue its Cluj-Napoca (Kolozsvár, Romania) route.
