Bus drivers’ strike continues in Hungary on Monday, with many bus services cancelled
Last week’s wage negotiations within the MÁV-Volán group proved fruitless, leading to the announcement of another two-day Volán strike by the Solidarity Bus Transport Union on Sunday.
During the discussions, MÁV CEO Zoltán Pafféri reiterated the latest proposal, entailing an average gross increase of 25% in the basic wage for workers over a three-year period. However, the trade unions representing Volánbusz employees failed to reach an agreement with the employer, resulting in the rejection of the offer once again.

Volánbusz had previously deemed the proposed strike as unjustified.
As per the preliminary plans released by the union announcing the strike on Monday, up to 19,180 bus services may face cancellation. The strike is expected to impact intercity, local and suburban services around Budapest. Find the list of cancelled bus services on 29 January HERE.
