Traffic in Budapest is expected to be completely paralysed for the next few days due to diplomatic events.
Traffic chaos in Budapest
The heads of state and government of the European political community and then the European Council will visit Budapest on 7 and 8 November, resulting in significant changes to traffic flow in the capital. The Budapest Police Headquarters is asking drivers to drive with increased caution in accordance with the changed traffic regulations.
The biggest diplomatic meeting in Hungary’s history will occur on 7 and 8 November, when the Heads of State and Government of the European Political Community and the European Council will visit Budapest.
Speaking on Kossuth Radio’s Vasárnapi Újság program, Viktor Orbán said that Budapest will host a summit meeting of the Western world, with more than 40 heads of state and government from Western countries. A meeting of this kind has never been held in the Hungarian capital.
He stressed that EU leaders and non-EU leaders such as the British, the Turks, the Caucasians, and the Northern and Western Balkans are coming.
Orbán said that former Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi, former President of the European Central Bank, who recently wrote a major study on the EU’s competitiveness, is also expected in Budapest.
The events will significantly impact road traffic in Budapest, with the Budapest Police Headquarters announcing the following changes to the traffic regime in the capital during the summit.
