Exclusive interview with Johnny Depp in Budapest

Johnny Depp is undoubtedly one of the most talented American actors in Hollywood. Everyone is familiar with his name from the Pirates of the Caribbean films, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Edward Scissorhands and Cry-Baby. His name was all over the news worldwide as a result of a messy divorce from Amber Heard. Now, the actor talks about his recent drama, and how he sees his career. He also mentions why he chose to shoot his newest film in Hungary.

Messy divorce

Népszava conducted an interview with the world-famous celebrity, in which he revealed fascinating tidbits about his career and the messy high-profile divorce. In addition, he talked about his upcoming project in Hungary. During the interview, Depp gave some cryptic answers. At one point, he went on explaining why he believes today’s world is so weird. He thinks that lying and concealing the truth from your loved ones has become an everyday occurrence. Depp said that his whole divorce scandal was the stupidest thing on Earth.

According to him, it started out as one person stating something untrue at the right moment for the press to take the story to the next level. So many people got invested in the drama. Depp thinks that he has to endure times like this. However, he felt tongue-tied, as it was hard for him to speak up. The media often tries to advertise celebrities and artists as products, however, they cannot relate to the person that the media created. Thus, it was challenging to speak his truth.

Big comeback?

The interviewer asked Depp if his latest film, Jeanne du Barry, could be considered his comeback. He simply replied that he cannot have a comeback, as he does not have to come back from anywhere. He never left. Depp added that his phone rings less often, but that also has its reasons. The actor was welcomed with great applause and celebration at recent major film events, for instance, at the Cannes Festival. Depp jokingly said that maybe people are worried that he is too old and will die soon, that is why they celebrate him. On the contrary, he is doing well and has not lost his unbeatable sense of humour.

Film shooting in Hungary

Johnny Depp is currently shooting a new film in Hungary about Modigliani. The actor said that people of the industry were not particularly psyched about his script idea. Producers in Hollywood lack creativity, thus it is not worth making something great there. However, he firmly believes that we should alway stick to our ideas and passions. As it seems, he has found a great solution to make this film come to reality. He just had to move the project to Europe, to our beloved Hungary.
