Hungarian defence minister meets Estonian official over defence, political cooperation
Budapest (MTI) – Defence minister István Simicskó on Thursday met Hannes Hanso, head of the defence committee of the Estonian parliament, and Estonian ambassador Rein Oidekivi, for talks in Budapest on defence and political cooperation between their countries.
The officials focused on the military mission of the Visegrad countries in Estonia, and identified further areas of cooperation, the Hungarian defence ministry said in a statement.
Concerning Europe’s migration crisis, Hanso, a former defence minister, said that the planned migrant distribution mechanism should not be mandatory but built instead on a voluntary basis.
Simicskó and the Estonian ambassador signed an agreement to facilitate an exchange of classified information to ensure closer cooperation and mutual protection of such information, the statement said.
