Hungarian president congratulates Trump
Budapest, November 9 (MTI) – Hungarian President János Áder congratulated US President-elect Donald Trump in a telegram on Wednesday.
The outcome of the US presidential election reflects the American citizens’ desire for change and renewal in a difficult era burdened by numerous domestic and international challenges, Áder said in his message quoted by the Presidential Office on its website.
The historical partnership between Hungary and the United States, based on shared values, an appreciation of freedom and a commitment to democracy, will hopefully assist both countries in meeting these challenges, Áder said.
Hungary is poised to continue cooperation with the United States within NATO’s framework in order to maintain peace and strengthen international stability, Ader said, making reference to the recent 60th anniversary celebration of Hungary’s 1956 revolution, “an uprising against dictatorship and foreign oppression”.
Áder also voiced hope that the coming years would see a strengthening of the existing friendly ties and confidence between the two nations.
