Hungary population still in decline
Budapest, December 21 (MTI) – Hungary’s population decline slowed in the first ten months of the year compared with the same period in 2015, as the number of births increased and the number of deaths significantly decreased, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) reported on Wednesday.
The data show there were 77,356 births in January-October, a 0.9 percent increase from the same period a year earlier. The number of deaths was 103,184, down 6.8 percent compared with 2015.
This equals to a 24 percent easing in the rate of natural population decline compared with the same period in 2015.
The number of marriages went up by an annual 11 percent to 46,286.
