Important: Traffic changes in the second largest Hungarian city
As of 1 January 2023, there will be no rail services on weekends in Hungary’s second largest city, Debrecen. Neither trams nor trolleys will run on Saturdays and Sundays starting from the beginning of the year. Read more about the traffic changes down below.
As part of the energy-related measures of the city of Debrecen, DKV Zrt. is introducing the second phase of the optimised timetable. This was accounced earlier on their official website. The measure was justified by the inflationary effects of the recent period and the increase in fuel and energy prices.
The company informed the travelling public that, in line with Debrecen’s efforts to save electricity, the new timetable will come into effect from 1 January, turizmusonline.hu reports. This will affect all trolleybus and tram services: buses will replace trolleybus services, and tram replacement buses will operate on the entire tram lines 1 and 2 at weekends. It is not yet known for how long this measure will remain in force, as it was introduced at the beginning of the year.
