Budapest, December 29 (MTI) – The opposition LMP party will run on its own in the 2018 election with the goal to help create an “eco-social” Europe instead of a “free trade” Europe, Andras Schiffer, head of the party’s parliamentary group, said.

“We can see that in the current Hungarian political arena we have no natural allies,” Schiffer told daily Magyar Hirlap on Monday, adding that the only option left was to become a governing power in their own right. This would require a miracle similar to LMP winning a mandate in 2010 and making a comeback in 2014, he told the paper.

It would be a great “feat of arms” to show Fidesz, the favourite in the by-elections of Veszprem in February, the opposition’s victory, he added.
