Manufacturer of retro drink Márka is about to export the drink to other countries
According to hvg.hu, Tibor Pécskövi, one of the owners and executive of Márka Üdítőgyártó Ltd., is seriously considering exporting the drink to several countries, such as Bosnia-Hercegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, Bulgaria, and Romania. The deal is currently being prepared, but could be finished by autumn 2016 or spring 2017.
Pécskövi said that because Márka is unknown in these countries strong marketing plans and a good price-value ratio is needed for the company to be successful in exporting the drink, and the recipe should also be modified to suit foreigners’ taste. The company is planning to set up distribution networks and agencies in the target country, and hopes to have most of the revenues from exports.
The company is run by Tibor Pécskövi and his brother, Gábor Pécskövi, and seemed to develop dynamically in the past couple of years: while they only had revenue of 500 million HUF in 2010, it became a total of 3.5 billion HUF by 2016; the company had capacity problems at one point, when they simply couldn’t manufacture as many drinks as they were expected to. As a solution, the owners are planning on establishing a company and logistics headquarters in Bács-Kiskun county, and would eventually move the manufacturing process there.
The recipe of the Márka drink was finalized in 1973, and has several different flavours such as grapes, sour-cherry, raspberry, and orange, but the company also makes juices, iced tea, flavoured water, and they will soon have isotonic sports drinks as well. The original fizzy drink gives 60-65% of the company’s revenue.
