Milan World Expo organisers want Hungarian pavilion to stay
Budapest, January 11 (MTI) – The organisers of the Milan World Expo have asked Hungary not to remove its pavilion from the Expo area so that it could become part of a planned Italian Institute of Technology complex.
The organisers sent an official request to Hungary on January 8 asking for the “The Garden of Life” pavilion to remain in place, government commissioner Geza Szocs said.
The commissioner called the Italian request a major success and recognition for Hungary as well as for the designers and the builders. Only five countries have been asked to leave their pavilion on the World Expo area, he said.
Hungary was asked to provide the building for the Italian side free of charge, he said, adding that this solution would save the costs of disassembly and cleanup for the Hungarian state. The government will make a decision on the matter on the basis of Szocs’s proposal.
The Milan World Expo ended on October 31, 2015.
