Hungarian-Ukrainian education team holds first meeting
The Hungarian-Ukrainian working group on education held its first meeting on Wednesday, with a view to finding a solution to the situation after Ukraine passed a public education law severely curbing the use of minority languages, the foreign ministry said on Thursday.
The leader of the Hungarian delegation, Orsolya Pacsay-Tomassich, said the delegation was briefed in detail on Ukrainian educational reform and Ukraine’s views on the future of public education in minority languages.
In turn, the Hungarian side “came up with practical proposals respecting [Ukrainian] reality, which we hope will be acceptable for all parties,” the ministry cited Pacsay-Tomassich as saying.
