Hungary to give extra money for the doctors vaccinating people?
The opposition Socialists have called for GPs to be paid 5,000 forints (EUR 14) after every patient they vaccinate against the coronavirus, and those working at vaccination points in hospitals to be paid an overtime fee, Socialist MEP István Újhelyi said on Saturday.
Újhelyi said GPs would be expected to vaccinate up to 50 people a day. “The health care system is overburdened and the state does not show gratitude for extra work,” he added.
He cited international examples of GPs getting paid for administering coronavirus jabs, such as 25 euros per person in Ireland, and 10-12 pounds per person in Britain. He added that in Germany GPs are paid an increased hourly rate of 150 euros for time spent with coronavirus vaccination.
