Watch out! ‘Red code’ heat alert is on in Hungary
With average daily temperature exceeding 27 C, the Hungarian authorities have introduced a “red code” which requires special measures for looking after the homeless and others suffering from the heat.
All social institutions are obliged to accommodate the homeless and anyone else suffering because of the heat, an official of the Ministry of Human Resources (EMMI) told a press briefing on Wednesday.
Members of the public are also asked to help by notifying the authorities if they spot a homeless person in distress on the street.
