People outraged: restrooms in one of Budapest’s biggest shopping centres to be pay toilets

It seems that if you want to use the toilets in the Westend shopping centre next to Nyugati railway station in the future, you will have to pay. The news has angered many people.

A reader of 444 sent in some photos showing that pay toilets have been installed on the floor of the Westend shopping centre and the minus one or otherwise metro level. Vending machines have also been installed near the entrances to the toilets, where it is assumed that the fee for using them will be charged.

Pay toilets in Westend

Several media outlets have contacted Westend management, but no response has been received so far. Important questions have been sent, such as:

  • when will the restrooms become pay toilets?
  • why was this decision taken in a mall that is 25 years old this year?
  • how much will the fee be?
  • will people who shop in the mall or use its services get a discount or free use?

Westend will not be the first shopping centre to charge people for using the restrooms. For example, Corvin Mall has been charging for years.

  1. Trend SETTER, they ALL now will like LEMMINGS start charging.
There are some that already you pay, but the remainder of a “freebie” will be a thing of the past.

  2. Wonderful. More people //ssing in the streets … Some areas in IX very popular for that sort of thing.

However, probably a good thing according to our Politicians – quite Socialist-Marxist, free of charge public toilets!
