Police detain 668 border violators in South Hungary
Budapest, February 11 (MTI) – Police have launched proceedings in the case of 668 illegal migrants who entered Hungary from Serbia into the southern county of Csongrad, the local police spokesman told MTI on Wednesday.
Among them were 630 Kosovars, 18 Afghans, ten Syrians, four Malians, three Bangladeshis, two Pakistanis and one Iraqi. Many were caught at Morahalom, where 118 Kosovo nationals crossed the border.
The migrants have lodged requests for asylum and these will be handled by Hungary’s immigration authority.
