Renovated home of Hungarian Santa Claus opens to visitors!
We Hungarians also have our own Santa Claus. He lives in a village called Nagykarácsony (literally “big Christmas”), and his home is called Mikulásház (“Santa Claus house”). The house that is said to be his has been renovated inside and out. The Mikulásház will be open to visitors from the middle of November.
The house that is said to be the home of the Hungarian Santa Claus has been renovated. The building, which was closed before the Covid pandemic broke out, will be open to visitors from mid-November in Nagykarácsony, in Fejér county, Travelo reports.
Santa Claus’ house completely renovated
The building has changed ownership. It was taken over by István Mergl, who used to run the local sports and cultural centre. Mergl had the building renovated inside and out. They have tried to design the rooms so that both young and old can enjoy themselves. New colours, visible and audible props and new furnishings have been added, Mergl tells feol.hu (you can check out some photos of the newly renovated house in their article).
Opening ceremony
The opening will take place on 24 November at 10.30 AM with local kindergarten and school children. Visitors can take possession of the house from 9 AM on 25 November and it will be open until 17 December. Find the Mikulásház’s official web page HERE!
As we reported, the Christmas House also opened its doors on 20 October. Read more HERE!
