According to index.hu, the number of visitors coming from Russia to Heviz fell by 10-15% in recent months, MTI said. According to local government figures it is somewhat compensated by the increase of the number of domestic and mainly Czech and Slovak tourists in private accommodations as well.

Attila Kvarda, Director General of Hevizfurdo and St. Andras Rheuma Hospital said about the visiting rates of the spa that more than a million tickets were sold to the thermal lake and the indoor baths last year, and additionally, 400 thousand outpatients and 5 thousand inpatients were treated by the hospital. He said the declining number of Russian visitors is felt at the lake, but the turnover of the Hungarian and German-speaking tourists slightly increased.

According to the announcement made of the event, it is hoped Heviz visibility would improve also by that, that Heviz will be the home of the Meeting of the Spas of Central Europe, which is one of the biggest health tourism fairs in Europe this October. At the last fairs, more than 160 wellness and spa services exhibited, and the current event is waiting for participants from around the world, from North America to the Gulf region.
