Szijjártó: We strongly reject new EU pact
Hungary rejects in the strongest possible terms the political agreement reached on the EU’s new pact on migration and asylum, Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said on Wednesday.
Answering a question at a joint press conference with his Slovak counterpart in Budapest, Szijjártó said he was strongly opposed to the agreement reached by negotiators of the European Parliament and the European Union, according to a ministry statement.
Asked about the “crisis regulation” component of the migration pact, Szijjártó said “no one can force Hungary to let anybody in”.
“We reject this migration pact, we will not let anybody in against our will,” he said, adding that “we cannot be told either from Brussels or anywhere else whom we should allow in and we reject in the most resolute terms to be punished for that”.
“This is Hungary, a Hungarian country, and in this country the Hungarian people have empowered us, not the Brussels elite, to govern,” the foreign minister said.
The new migration pact will have to be formally adopted by the European Parliament and the European Council.

What the 5XL Satrap of Orbánistam and his yacht-loving butler do not seem to understand is that soon it is Europe who will reject Hungary.
Hungary’s way or the highway. All the other EU Member States are wrong, our Politicians are right.
Will they take ownership if it turns out they are wrong, though? Rhetorical question. Would welcome a COVID Inquiry in Hungary. Show the other EU Members how much better Hungary did, going it alone, as opposed to everyone else. Or not?
Concur – Mario, the “daggers” continue to get larger for what will be a cataclysmic fatal rightful attack on Victor Orban and his Government.
Norbert – Concur, and as Orban continues this agenda, the nadir, the black hole of any future Hungary may think it has is just getting EVOPOATED.
America, are “Raising” there ALL powerful heads again, especially on the new laws centered on freedom of speech and objection(s) to the Orban Government.
Idiotic introduction of a Law, that is just SMASHED of any relationship to DEMOCRACY.
America trusting they go through what they are considering to ask the European Union for a ruling on this new media dictatorship imposed law by Victor Orban.
It grows Hungary is not a DEMOCRACY.
are you all totally niave. Look at what has happened in all the countries allowing waves of illegal imigrants in. They largely do not assimilate, but breed profusly at the cost of the state until they overwhelm the sytem at the expense of the people paying the taxes.
western countries are too busy educating “managers” with no life experience instaed of valuing all workers. No one wants to clean, collect rubbish, care for the aged and infirm so they think importing workers to do this will solve these things. But its transitory, they are importing the next wave of managers amongst those that are willing to work at all. Why do they flood to the wealthier countries. Its not for the work – its for the welfare. and then they send much of it back “home” as europew will never be their home.
ALL OBJECTIONS TO VIKTOR ORBAN ARE TREASON AND WILL NOT GO UNPUNISHED.
ALL HAIL VIKTOR!
@KMT54 – I believe we are trying to get our countrymen to – uh – “breed profusely” (Hungarian Families!)
And our Politicians are predominantly attracting investment from outside the EU (guess who the managers will be) as well as incentivizing lots of guest labor … How would you explain this?
Having said – I would always prioritize a motivated employee, regardless of religion, skin color or sexual orientation. And, unfortunately, I find a lot of our countrymen less than dynamic. The ones I do hire tend to move abroad, at some point. Annoying!
