Shocking: Hungarian woman tries to flush newborn baby down the toilet

newborn baby flushed down the toilet

A woman tried to flush her newborn baby down the toilet in the town of Kiskunfélegyháza, Bács-Kiskun County, on Saturday. The 33-year-old woman, who has mental health and alcohol problems, previously denied being pregnant, but that night she became ill, had contractions and began bleeding heavily. The baby was taken out of the toilet by paramedics, but it showed no signs of life. Police are investigating manslaughter.

A pregnancy kept in secret

The young woman was living in the home of her acquaintances. The owner of the house, István Szabó, took her as his own daughter. The man’s carer also lived in the house, and although they suspected that she was pregnant, she denied it all along. At 11 pm on Saturday night, however, she fell ill, had contractions and began bleeding heavily, so she ran to the bathroom, Index.hu writes.

At first, the caretaker did not see what the young woman was up to in the bathroom. She only saw that she had her pants pulled down and blood was covering both the woman and the bathtub.

Not a rag but a baby

The caretaker immediately called the ambulance when she saw the scene. As she returned to the bathroom, she spotted the young woman trying to flush something down the toilet. At first, she thought it was just a rag but then she realised that it was a newborn baby.

“I was in shock. I shouted to Pista (István Szabó – ed.) to come because there was a baby in the toilet,” told the carer told RTL Híradó. She said that the baby was seemingly alive at that time.

Investigation

When asked whether she took the newborn out of the toilet, the caretaker began sobbing and shook her head. By the time the shock had worn off, the ambulance arrived. The baby was eventually taken out of the toilet by the paramedics, but it showed no signs of life.

The police are investigating under the suspicion of manslaughter and are still trying to put together the pieces of the tragic event. The young woman has not been taken into custody. The police are also investigating with the help of experts whether the newborn would have had a chance for survival.

This 10-year-old Hungarian boy ran the Sarajevo marathon! – PHOTOS

loci_oliver_sarajevo_marathon

The 10-year-old Hungarian boy, Lóci completed the 42 km within just 5 hours, at a pace that beat adults.

The exceptional performance was reported on the Facebook page of two Hungarian brothers who have become the youngest marathon runners of all time. One of them, the determined Lóci ran the Sajarevo marathon at the age of 10 on 5 July. The proud parents revealed that originally both brothers would have participated in the competition. However, life changed their plans as Olivér’s broken collarbone prevented him from training, so with 6 weeks of compulsory rest behind him, they could only allow him to run the 5-kilometer race.

The younger brother, Lóci had no such difficulty and was more determined than ever to start his first marathon. Although in Hungary, only people over the age of 18 can run marathons since the 1980s, the main organiser of the Sarajevo marathon simply replied to the family, “ok, good luck!”.

According to the Facebook post, Lóci was not only enthusiastic about the race „but also fit enough to take advantage of this unexpected opportunity, promised to do everything he could to prepare for the race, went running with his parents and generally obeyed their wishes in the weeks leading up to the race.” Therefore, the family decided to organise the next family holiday in the Balkans, „with a goal in mind for the children, with tasks to achieve and a learning experience to discover the connections between them”.

Photo: www.facebook.com/Lóci-és-Olivér-megcsinálja

On the day of the race, 5 July, the weather posed the biggest challenge for the competitors. The extreme heat made the 42.195-kilometer race even more difficult for the runners.

The first point when the persistent child asked how much time he had left was at 22 kilometres. At 25 kilometers, he was walking under the hot sun and looked like someone who was ready to give up, but he managed to lift himself up and kept on running until the finish line.

The perseverance of the 10-year-old Hungarian boy is unbelievable that beats the majority of adults. It can probably be thanked to his own determination and the support of his parents, who were encouraging him throughout the whole race. Eventually, the youngest Hungarian marathon runner of all time finished his first race within 5 hours.

Many of the commentators congratulated Lóci on social media. Still, some of them said they disagreed with the idea of a child running a marathon in extreme heat, and some questioned the parents’ decision – reported by the Hungarian news portal Szeretlek Magyarország.

The Hungarian Interchurch Aid (HIA) has organised camps to host some 200 children traumatised by the war in neighbouring Ukraine in Budapest and in Somogy County’s Kastélyosdombó, in south-western Hungary, the charity said on Wednesday.

Disturbing details emerged about the Croatian newborn found in Hungary

baby in bush

A Croatian woman gave birth and then abandoned her child in a Hungarian vineyard near Pécs. If the story itself is not disturbing enough, now more upetting details have emerged.

The horrible story

As we have reported before, Hungarian police found a newborn in the Márfa vineyard, not far from Pécs, Southeastern Hungary. Hungarian police started an investigation against a Croatian woman for attempted murder. The authorities suspect that the woman abandoned her newborn baby on purpose.

The little girl was alone in a blackberry bush for a whole day.

The baby was found by the police, dehydrated and cold. She was taken to hospital but eventually died. The Croatian woman was working as a day labourer in the vineyard, and tenyek.hu understands that she may have been keeping her pregnancy a secret.

Police found her

As the we can learn from the video of tenyek.hu, the little girl was whimpering softly when the police found her in the bush. At that time, the baby, abandoned by her mother, was still alive. The little girl had been alone in the open for a day before she was found.

Croatian police notified their Hungarian colleagues last midnight that the hospital of Eszék provided medical care for a 31-year-old local woman who gave birth to her child the previous afternoon and went home afterwards.

The mother first claimed to have given birth to the baby girl in Beremend, then wrapped her up and hid her in a bin. The police searched the village, then the surrounding villages, but could not find her.

“Later, on the morning of the 16th, another piece of information came in, that the woman had said that she was working as a day labourer in the vineyard in Márfa and that she had given birth and hidden her newborn there,”

a police officer said.

Tragedy

The little girl was eventually found in a blackberry bush. A police officer with medical qualifications was also involved in the search.

“We found blood-suspicious dirt that made us think we were in the right place. Then we found a piece of placenta and later, in the early afternoon, we found the baby in a blackberry bush, in a pretty bad state, but moving, moaning,”

added the police officer.

The little girl, who was cold and dehydrated, was immediately treated by the police. An ambulance helicopter also arrived on the scene. The baby was taken to hospital. The little girl eventually died in hospital. The woman is being investigated by police for manslaughter of a person under the age of 14. She could go to prison for the rest of her life.

Budapest Airport moves into Minipolisz!

minipolisz budapest airport

Airport opens in the center of Budapest – Budapest Airport opened a 120 square meter airport playground at Minipolisz, on Király Street. From the last day of May, children will be able to try themselves as airport workers at the mini-city, where the airport environment will be complemented by a duty free shop, completing the air travel experience.

On 31 May, Budapest Airport’s 120 m2 play area opened at Minipolisz, on Király Street. Minipolisz is a magical city for children, in the heart of Budapest. In this mini-world, everyday life is turned upside down for a few hours, and any child can become a shop assistant, cashier, postman, crane operator, banker, florist, car mechanic and now even an airport worker.

On the opening day, Budapest Airport, Heinemann Duty Free Budapest and Minipolisz wanted to provide an unforgettable airport experience to children and adults alike, so the opening was attended by kindergarten and school groups from the districts and municipalities around the airport, as well as residents of the Gyöngyvirág Children’s Home in Budapest District XVIII.

For Budapest Airport, it is of utmost importance to be present in people’s lives and to keep them informed about the airport’s rules and regulations, procedures, operations and activities. One of the most important pillars of the company’s CSR strategy is education, which aims to raise awareness and inform society about issues affecting the airport. The stand at Minipolisz is a great opportunity for children to get to know the airport operator from an early age and to learn the rules of travel in a playful way.

At the stations of the mini airport, children aged 5-10 can learn about different airport processes and jobs in an interactive, playful way. The three main airport stations – check-in, security screening, waiting and boarding gate – are complemented by a mini duty free shop, courtesy of Heinemann Duty Free Budapest, which completes the airport experience for children.

“We think it is important that future generations learn about airport operations and air travel from an early age, in a playful way. The stand at Minipolisz provides an excellent opportunity for children to enjoy coming to the airport as passengers, or even as employees, when they grow up. We want all children and their accompanying parents and teachers to experience the magical world of the airport. We are delighted that, thanks to Heinemann Duty Free Budapest, we can offer a mini duty free shop and a complete airport experience for visitors to Minipolisz,”

said Katalin Valentínyi, Director of Corporate Communications and Government Relations for Budapest Airport.

After all, for children, the series of unforgettable experiences begin at the airport, and they can share their joy with the people they love most. This is exactly how we think of our cooperation with Minipolisz and Budapest Airport, which gives people of all ages the opportunity to immerse themselves in this play world and reach the farthest corners of the earth in their imaginations,”

commented Ildikó Jankovich, the Managing Director of Magyar Duty Free Kft.

“The Mini Airport is another milestone in the life of MiniPolisz! It is always a great honor for us to welcome a new partner on board at MiniPolisz, because it confirms our more than 10 years of work. Our mission is to give families a lot of new information and experiences as they play together, which they can use in real life. Learning by playing is a process that works very well in the context of travel experiences as well. With the arrival of BUD and Heinemann Duty Free, the area of MiniPolisz has also expanded, with a newly opened, 120 m2 area, where, in addition to the airport experience, we also have a baby corner for the smallest ones,” revealed Xénia Máté, the owner of MiniPolisz.

Full-time caregivers of their own family members to get minimum wage in Hungary?

caregiver

Full-time caregivers of their own family members perform work and should therefore be entitled to an income of at least the minimum wage, leaders of the opposition LMP party said on Sunday, marking International Labour Day.

“On the occasion of Labour Day we can declare that we still regard the state as the worst employer because it has failed to recognise social workers by providing them due remuneration,” LMP’s co-leaders and parliamentary group leader said in a joint statement.

Back in 2004, when the now ruling Fidesz party was in opposition it pledged to recognise in-home care as a form of employment, they said. “But even being in power for the past 12 years has not been enough for Fidesz to deliver on its promise,” they added.

Increasing the amount to be paid for in-home care would cost the central budget 45 billion forints (EUR 119m) annually, which the party’s leaders said was “an insignificant amount”. They demanded that the government increase payment to people who provide in-home care to a family member other than a child.

Mother’s Day: here is how the government supports Hungarian mothers

Mother's Day Hungary

Hungary’s government is committed to doing everything it can to assist mothers through its social policy measures, the parliamentary group leader of the co-ruling Christian Democrats said on Sunday, marking Mothers’ Day.

Motherhood and raising children comes with a great amount of responsibility and sacrifice, “the burdens of which do not have to be borne by women alone in our society”, István Simicskó said in a statement.

Measures introduced by the government aimed at supporting mothers include flexible working arrangements, family tax preferences, home-creation support, free textbooks and school meals for children as well as a personal income tax exemption for mothers with at least four children, Simicskó said.

Women can best take care of their families if they feel they have financial, physical and mental security, he said.

“There is no strong and proud nation without strong and proud families,” Simicskó said. “And mothers are without a doubt the driving forces of families.”

He said the comprehensive family policy measures introduced by the government over the last 12 years aimed to strengthen families.

It’s official: Hungarian child protection referendum invalid!

Children child protection referendum (2)

The National Election Committee (NVB) has officially declared Hungary’s April 3 referendum on child protection invalid, as the number of valid responses cast did not reach the 50-percent-plus-one threshold for any of the four questions.

A total of 4,107,652 valid responses needed to be cast in order for the referendum held in parallel with the general election to be valid, the NVB said. Between 3,870,042 and 3,910,436 valid responses (47-48pc) were given to the four referendum questions.

To the question: “Do you support children in public schools participating in classes demonstrating sexual orientations without parental consent?” 3,910,436 valid responses were given (47.6pc), of which 92.32 percent indicated ‘no’.

To the question: “Do you support information about gender change treatments being given to children?” 3,880,381 valid responses were given (47.23pc), of which 95.92 percent indicated ‘no’.

To the question: “Do you support media content of a sexual nature and affecting the development of children being presented to them without any restrictions?” 3,872,161 valid responses were given (47.13pc), of which 95.33 percent indicated ‘no’.

To the question: “Do you support media content presenting gender change being presented to children?” 3,870,042 valid responses were given (47.11pc), of which 95.17 percent indicated ‘no’.

The election committee’s decision is not final, and appeals can be submitted to the Kuria, Hungary’s supreme court, within three days. Under Hungary’s referendum law, a referendum is valid if voter turnout is over 50 percent. It is considered conclusive if more than half of the valid votes are cast for the same answer.

“Before the birth of my baby girl, I used to find New York a more liveable city. However, it has really started to bother me how noisy and dirty it is, not that I didn’t notice it before. I came to the realisation that I don’t want to walk my child on the filthy streets in the stench rising from the piled-up rubbish. The situation has gotten worse since the pandemic. I long to live in a big house with a garden, that’s our 5-year plan. We are moving all together with our baby, the cat and the dog.”

Orbán: Hungarian opposition wants to obey Zelenskiy against people’s interests

Viktor Orbán in Zala county

In a radio interview on Friday Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said the war in Ukraine “is not our war; here we cannot win, but we could lose everything.” Orbán told public radio: “The question here is whether or not the economy functions.”

“We condemn the Russian attack, but we cannot help the Ukrainians if we destroy ourselves in the meantime,” he added. He said the Ukrainian president’s efforts must be taken “with understanding”. “He’s looking out for Ukrainian interests and trying to help in his own country.” Orbán said his dispute was with the Hungarian opposition, which, he insisted, wanted to “obey” the Ukrainian president.

The prime minister said the proposal to replace cheap Russian gas with expensive supplies from America was not viable.

He added that the referendum on child protection would “decide our children’s future”. Referring to the government-sponsored referendum taking place in parallel with Sunday’s general election, Orbán told public radio that Hungary could still protect its children and

prevent “gender madness”

from taking over “if we make it clear with a referendum that the simple fact is: the father is a man, the mother is a woman, and everyone should leave our children alone.”

“This way we can protect our children and the right of parents to [decide about their child’s] sex education,” he said, adding that this was a more important issue those appearing “in the shadow of the war”.

Justice min: “We need to facilitate peace and strive for stability”

Judit Varga Hungarian Minister of Justice

Families are at the heart of the Hungarian fundamental law, not just as a legal entity or blood ties “but a concept saturated with values that define our identity and our worldview”, Justice Minister Judit Varga told a conference in Brussels on Wednesday.

In her keynote speech at the conference The Future of Nation-State in Europe, organised by the Edmund Burke Foundation, Varga said: “The full support of our families is the guarantee for the preservation of our sovereignty. Therefore, the Fundamental Law of Hungary also states the protection of marriage, and that the upbringing of children is the sole responsibility of the parent. Also, that the mother shall be a woman, the father shall be a man,” she said.

“Therefore, it is extremely important to understand that anyone who attacks the families, eventually will attack the whole construction, the whole European Union.”

“We cannot, therefore let the liberal and left-wing mainstream distort our concept of freedom and substitute it with their blunt, colourless and odourless theory of civil liberties,” Varga said.

In the past decade, EU leaders were occupied with “ever expending integration, bureaucratization, and ideological crusades”, Varga said. “The project that started as a brilliant economic cooperation slowly evolved into something different: an empire-alike entity where the duties and competences between the member states and institutions are blurred and intentionally distorted.”

“In 2010 Hungarian people decided to empower the government with an extraordinary two-thirds majority to bring an end to the post-communist era. Citizens gave mandate to build the state on new foundations based on the Fundamental Law of Hungary.

The core elements of this structure are Christian tradition, conservative values, strong nation, and thriving families,” she said.

Commitment to the fundamental law means Hungary cannot accept migration as the solution to demographic problems as migration “is not just endangering our culture, sovereignty and self-identity, but also brings social tension and inevitable disturbances while destroying the cultural identity of Europe.”

Regarding the war in Ukraine, Varga said: “We need to facilitate peace and strive for stability.” Hungary has launched an “extraordinary” humanitarian aid programme, provided protection and helped hundreds of thousands of refugees, she said.

Varga said that parallels between the Ukrainian refugee crisis and the “migration crisis in 2015”, however, should not be drawn. “Most of the migrants who arrived during the last few years are proved to be ineligible for international protection. This crisis is completely different, it is clear, that there is an armed conflict in our direct neighbourhood,” she said.

Shocking! Young girl sexually harassed and beaten with a hammer, father raped 6yo daughter

Rape Sexual Harassment Abuse

Recently, the number of sexual and other, abusive crimes have increased. Many victims are terrified after the events, and some never even tell the authorities what had happened.

Parents abused their children in Győr, first physically and later sexually

According to the judgment of the court of Győr, four girls, born from the marriage of a man and a woman between 2000 and 2012, were brought up together, living in the same household. From 2006 onwards, there were more and more quarrels between the man and the woman, often lasting into the night, which the children had to listen through.

The older girls had to do almost all the housework and take care of their younger siblings. Many times, the chores at home went to the expense of their learning.

It also happened that the father beat his older daughters with a wooden spoon, strap or fishing rod, writes index.hu.

The 15-year-old child had to endure strangulation by the father several times, and the 16-year-old eldest daughter was grounded on several occasions, sometimes for weeks.

In 2015, the man also raped his then 14-year-old daughter, and in 2016, his 6-year-old daughter. The children could not count on help from their mother.

Prosecution says the punishment is too lenient

The Győr Court sentenced the man to 14 years in prison, banned him from public affairs for 10 years, and has definitively prohibited the pursuit of any occupation connected to the education, supervision, care or medical treatment of a person under the age of 18.

The court terminated his parental custody in the case of the two youngest daughters. The mother was sentenced to 1 year and 4 months in prison for child endangerment, suspended for 3 years.

Teenagers beat a young girl with a hammer and sexually harassed her at the Aszód Reformatory School

Three teenagers are suspected of having beaten another teenager with a hammer, and then one of them forced her to sexually satisfy him. On March 18, 2022, the Buda Regional District Court ordered the arrest of the three teenagers who were involved in the case, says 444.hu.

The young girl of the Aszód Reformatory School reported the abuse to her educator. She said the three young suspects were beating her regularly.

The doctors confirmed the injuries

The physical aggression was also confirmed by medical examination, skull bruises and spinal sprains were found, and a number of injuries were visible on the victim’s body.

In addition to the physical abuse, the victim also reported sexual abuse, during which one of the juvenile suspects called her into the bedroom.

There, he told her that if she caused him sexual pleasure, the abuse would end. The juvenile suspect confessed to the crime he was charged with.

The investigating judge of the Buda Regional District Court ordered the arrest of all three of them.

Hungarian volunteers establish children’s corner in Budapest for refugees

Gyereksarok Childrens Corner Budapest

Volunteers and charity organisation workers have established a children’s corner in the Keleti Railway Station in Budapest to provide Ukrainian refugee mothers with a space where they can take care of their children.

Since the war between Russia and Ukraine broke out, thousands of refugees have fled from the conflict through the Hungarian border and locals have proved that they are willing to help if their neighbours and fellow Hungarians are in danger.

Since the onset of the military conflict, charity organisations have gathered aid for people in Transcarpathia and set up refugee support points at the border crossings.

Additionally, one of Hungary’s largest hotels was reopened to provide accommodation for refugees. Some of the wealthiest Hungarians also sent help in the form of money, paid accommodation or food.

And now, Szeretlekmagyarország reported that some volunteers have created a children’s corner at the Keleti Railway Station out of nothing but the donations of everyday citizens.

The initiative started out as a Facebook group, called Gyereksarok-Keleti, which grew quickly. Two days ago, they counted 500 members, while they are nearly at 2,000 members now.

According to Blikk, the main goal of the group is to provide help for refugee children and create a friendly environment for mothers where they can take care of their children.

Volunteers are also happy to help mothers in need with changing diapers, helping children to use a potty and even nursing from a bottle.

According to the group’s administrator, Flóra K., they would like to establish a 3 metres by 3 metres tent at the station, to be able to properly separate mothers who would like to breastfeed their children or change the little ones’ diapers.

They said that they no longer need new clothes, because they have more than needed, but highlighted that donations of feeding bottles, baby spoons and baby carriages are always welcome.

From policemen to volunteers to refugees, so far everyone agreed that the initiative was a great idea. Children can play with donated toys which will distract them from the havoc for a little while, while mothers can finally take a big breath and relax among attentive and helping volunteers.

Hungarian authorities help unite Ukrainian refugee family

Hungarian Police Ukraine Refugee Daughter Resized

An Ukrainian refugee family left their six-year-old daughter behind at a refugee support point by accident. Luckily, the Hungarian police and volunteers quickly acted and watched over the child until the family came back to collect her.

Index reports that a Ukrainian couple and their eight children crossed the Hungarian border at Tiszabecs to flee from war-torn Ukraine on 11th March late at night.

When the authorities present asked them if they needed any help, the couple said that they had already organised their trip to Germany and they would leave the refugee support point in a few hours.

Volunteers and people from the Hungarian Baptist Aid at the Tiszabecs refugee support point also supported this statement and within a few hours, someone came to pick the family up.

On 12th March at around one in the morning the family left in two cars to Germany.

Blikk reports, however, that Tibor Hári, the executive director-general of the Hungarian Baptist Aid, recalled that one of his colleagues ran to him distressed and told him that there was a major problem:

an approximately six-year-old girl was crying and looking for help because she had lost her family.

The colleagues of the aid suspected that the child might have been part of the family that had just left. They immediately notified the police at the refugee support point.

Unfortunately, they had no information about the cars whatsoever, and they could only guess at their course, Index wrote.

The officers immediately informed the headquarters and passed the information down to all units in the region. Despite their efforts, however, they did not manage to find the cars.

Blikk writes that with the help of interpreters, the girl recalled that she was in the bathroom when the family left. The authorities and volunteers tried to reconstruct what might have happened and they concluded that since the parents were in separate cars, they might have thought that their daughter was with the other parent.

While the authorities tried to find the girl’s parents, the colleagues of the charity organisation tried to console the girl, feed her and keep her entertained.

Luckily, after about eight hours, the Hungarian police received a phone call informing them that a family reported their missing daughter in Hungary. Not long after, the family returned to the support point to collect their child.

On 12th March at night, the family tearfully reunited with their daughter at Tiszabecs.

In the hurry and havoc of fleeing their country, the Ukrainian refugee family might have just simply miscounted their children when leaving.

Hungarian foundation for Covid orphans offered €494,000 support last year

Foundation for coronavirus orphans Regőczi Foundation

The Regőczi Foundation set up by President János Áder and First Lady Anita Herczegh will provide long-term and personalised support to children who have been orphaned or semi-orphaned due to Covid-19, the First Lady said on Friday.

Detailing the work carried out by the foundation in the past year, Herczegh told a conference that the Regőczi Foundation aimed to support children until they reached adulthood or completed their studies and began working.

This means that the foundation plans to be active for around 20 years, she said, adding that this required it to raise hundreds of millions of forints for its operations each year.

Herczegh said the foundation provided personalised support to children, offering them, among other things, scholarships, housing and social aid or financing transport fees.

The foundation also cooperates with the biggest Hungarian charity organisations, such as the Hungarian Red Cross, the Catholic Caritas, the Hungarian Baptist Aid, the Hungarian Interchurch Aid, the Hungarian Reformed Church Aid, the Hungarian Charity Service of the Order of Malta and the Charity Council, she said.

The Regőczi Foundation last year provided 176 million forints’ (EUR 494,100) worth of support to 1,004 children, Herczegh said. The foundation has so far received 1,200 applications, she said.

The foundation set up in spring 2021 was named after István Regőczi, a Catholic priest who took care of orphaned children throughout his life in the interwar period.

Hungarian govt launches info campaign on child protection referendum

The government on Friday said it is launching an information campaign about the national referendum on the child protection law to be held simultaneously with the parliamentary election on April 3.

“It is parents, and not activist groups, who have the exclusive right to give sex education to their children,” the government said on its Facebook page.

Governments in many European countries have taken decisions on the issue of children’s sex education without asking the opinion of the people.

With its information campaign the government wants to ensure Hungarian people the opportunity to express their opinion on the matter,” the government said, encouraging Hungarians to participate in the referendum.

The campaign will run on traditional and online platforms and will soon have a website of its own, it said.
