Hungarian fashion designers conquered the 2020 Dubai Expo – PHOTOS, VIDEO
The Hungarian Fashion and Design Agency (MMDÜ) said that the Hungarian designers took part in the design week of the 2020 Dubai Expo. Seven of them could exhibit their collections at the Budapest Select Fashion Show. Meanwhile, Downtown Design provided a debut opportunity for ten Hungarian fashion trademarks to show their nontraditional clothes. Hungary took various programs to the world expo organized between 1 October 1 and 31 March.
Hungarian fashion designers to conquer new markets
According to Helló Magyar, Downtown Design was held between 8 and 12 November. During the event, ten Hungarian fashion designers could introduce their collections to the public of Dubai: Error ‘n More, Forms Design, Zsuzsanna Horvath, Leits Miklós, Loomiosa, Oleant, Paper Up!, Planbureau, Position Collective, and Sára Kele.
Many of the partakers did not only want to watch the show. They also bought some Hungarian masterpieces.
The Budapest Select Fashion Show was on 9 November, on which seven Hungarian fashion trademarks amused the public: Abodi, Elysian, Kata Szegedi, Katti Zoób, Maison Marquise, Mero and Sentiments. Two hundred journalists, experts, influencers and buyers took part in the event. After the exhibition, negotiations started with wholesalers and showrooms.
The fashion designers took part in the event with the help of the MMDÜ. The Hungarian institution organized roundtable discussions to strengthen professional dialogue. They put the event in the Woman’s Pavillion of the world expo.

Roundtable discussions
On 10 November,
regional and local women leaders shared their thoughts about the future of design, the role of women leaders, and the importance of sustainable development.
The partakers were Zsófia Bata-Jakab, CEO of MMDÜ, Camille Boyer, co-founder of the Austrian Fashion Association, Daria Marusyk, the communication director of the Ukrainian fashion week, and Lama Jouni, a local fashion designer.
Bata-Jakab expressed how glad she was that after the pandemic they had an opportunity to debut in the world expo. She added that thanks to the expo, new markets will open up for Hungarian designers. She highlighted that they received good remarks from the visitors during the fashion week. She added that people in Dubai value Hungarian talent.

The gulf state is one of the most important players in international trade. Thus, the appearance of the Hungarian fashion designers there might have a positive effect on the image of Hungary and its touristic attractions – she concluded.
