Warning to Primark fans: Beware of scams targeting online shoppers in Hungary

Primark has issued a warning to its customers in Hungary to remain vigilant against fraudulent websites falsely claiming to sell the brand’s products online. The fast fashion retailer, which opened its first Hungarian store in Budapest earlier this year, has confirmed that it does not operate an online store in the country.

Fraudulent websites target Hungarian shoppers

According to Forbes.hu, several fake websites, including www.primark-magyarorszag.com, have been reported for scamming customers by offering non-existent online shopping services. Victims have lost tens of thousands of forints to these schemes, with some individuals reporting losses of up to HUF 40,000–50,000 (EUR 98–122).

Fans of the newcomer franchise have voiced their concerns in online groups, sharing stories of being duped by these fraudulent sites. Among the deceptive domains identified in the past are primarkmagyarorszag.com, primarkhungarywebshop.com, and primarkonlinewebshop.com. All of these have been confirmed as scams.

The retail chain has taken action against these fraudulent websites. According to a company statement sent to Forbes.hu:
“We treat such issues with the utmost priority and take all necessary measures to have these fake websites removed as quickly as possible. We urge our customers to exercise caution when encountering suspicious sites and to refrain from sharing personal information with unknown online sources. Our official website, https://www.primark.com/hu-hu, provides information about our latest collections and in-store availability.”

No online shopping, but expansion continues

Despite the increasing popularity of e-commerce, the franchise remains primarily a brick-and-mortar retailer. Its only online shopping service, Click & Collect, is currently being trialled in select UK stores. Customers in Hungary do not have access to online ordering or delivery services, a fact scammers exploit to deceive shoppers.

Primark opened its first Hungarian store on 28 May 2024, at the Arena Mall in Budapest. The store offers the brand’s full range of products, including clothing for men, women, and children, as well as home decor, beauty products, and accessories.

The fast fashion giant continues its expansion in Europe and beyond. With over 400 stores in 16 countries, Primark plans to grow its network to 530 locations by 2026, further solidifying its position as one of Europe’s most popular retailers.

Stay safe

The Irish retail chain advises customers to rely on its official website for accurate information about its products and services. If you come across any suspicious websites claiming to sell Primark products, report them immediately to prevent further scams.

Türkiye’s fashion giant Koton opens first store in Hungary, with more to come – PHOTOS

türkiye fashion brand koton in köki

Koton, the renowned Turkish fashion brand, has officially opened its first store in Hungary, marking the beginning of its planned expansion in the country. On 30 September, the doors of Koton’s Budapest location at the KÖKI Shopping Center opened to the public. The store offers a wide range of clothing for women, men, and children, aiming to cater to a broad audience.

Koton, a brand well-known across nearly 30 countries with over 400 stores globally, plans to further solidify its presence in Hungary, Startlap reports. By the end of the year, the company intends to launch several other locations in cities including Sopron, Debrecen, Szeged, and Székesfehérvár. In total, more than 6,000 square meters of retail space will be dedicated to Koton stores across the country, with the KÖKI store being the largest at around 1,000 square meters.

The fashion chain’s pricing is competitive, positioning itself similarly to other fast fashion brands popular in Hungary. For instance, women’s dresses are available online for approximately HUF 13,000 to 23,000 (EUR 32 to 57), with discounted options as low as HUF 2,000 to 3,000 (EUR 5 to 7.5). Men’s clothing, such as jeans and shirts, can be found in the HUF 6,000 to 16,000 (EUR 15 to 40) range. Even winter coats, one of the more expensive items, are priced reasonably, with the most affordable ones around HUF 9,500 (EUR 24), and none exceeding HUF 30,000 (EUR 74).

Koton’s collection doesn’t bring too many surprises in terms of design, offering familiar styles and colours that match the current trends in fast fashion. Most of the products are made in Türkiye, drawing on the brand’s 35 years of experience in the fashion industry.

As part of its global growth strategy, Koton signed an agreement to open eight new stores in Hungary, with plans to launch these locations in 2024, Daily News Hungary reported back in July. These stores will be situated in shopping centres managed by Adventum Group, with the official agreement signed in Istanbul by Koton’s CEO, A. Bülent Sabuncu, and Adventum Group’s founder, Kristóf Bárány, 24.hu writes.

Sabuncu highlighted the brand’s continued international focus, emphasising that 34.5% of its revenue last year came from international markets. As the company continues to pursue its goal of opening 130 to 150 new stores worldwide, Koton’s expansion in Hungary is a significant part of this strategy.

Bárány expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “Koton is one of Türkiye’s largest fashion brands, and we are excited to support their expansion in Hungary”.

The first wave of store openings, including three in Budapest, is scheduled for the final quarter of 2024. The KÖKI Shopping Center store serves as the flagship location, symbolising Koton’s ambitious plans for the Hungarian market.

Hungarian fashion brand Nanushka opens store in New York

nanushka store

Hungarian fashion designer Szandra Sándor, creator of the brand Nanushka, has opened a new store in the heart of Soho, New York, located at 27 Mercer Street.

The store was designed by Italian architect Matteo Corbellini, whose innovative approach to evolving spatial design offers a refreshing take on retail spaces. This marks another milestone for Nanushka, a brand that has been embraced by many celebrities worldwide.

Corbellini first encountered Sándor’s brand during a dinner event in Milan, held at Villa Clea, an art space designed by him, Világgazdaság reports. Their connection was instant, and the result is a collaboration that now brings a unique Nanushka experience to New York. The store is built around the concept of a “temporary refuge,” aligning with Nanushka’s commitment to sustainability and creating a calm, welcoming environment amid the city’s hustle and bustle.

The interior, curated by Allina Corbellini for Lunaa, features black lacquered metal furniture, with raw metal pieces visibly welded together, reminiscent of the craftsmanship involved in sewing fabric. The use of textiles throughout the space introduces soft, organic shapes with folds and undulations that enhance the feeling of warmth and fluidity.

At the heart of the design are distinctive fabrics sourced from the brand’s Budapest atelier. These materials are assembled into a unique frame that balances between movement and stability. Inspired by the nomadic structure of a Berber tent, the space brings a dynamic energy, with certain design elements fixed in place, while others remain mobile, allowing the store to evolve constantly. The overall atmosphere is both light and flexible, making for an immersive shopping experience that blends the established with the fresh.

Celebrities embrace Hungarian fashion

Nanushka’s appeal has transcended borders, capturing the attention of global celebrities. Golden Globe-winning actress Kate Hudson recently wore Nanushka in a video clip released in March, further solidifying the brand’s presence in Hollywood. Other stars like Selena Gomez have also sported the brand, including her appearance on NBC’s The Kelly Clarkson Show. Meanwhile, pop star Justin Bieber has been seen wearing Nanushka’s Gimme sunglasses at the 2021 Super Bowl and was recently spotted again donning pieces from the Hungarian label.

20th Anniversary Collection unveiled in New York

In addition to the new store, Nanushka recently celebrated its 20th anniversary by unveiling the Spring/Summer 2025 collection in New York. According to Magyar Nemzet, this special collection draws inspiration from paper artistry, incorporating various textures and techniques derived from raw paper, which are then reimagined into sophisticated fabrics and garments. This creative approach continues Nanushka’s dedication to timeless and thoughtful design, capturing the brand’s essence in a fresh and innovative way, and also highlights the significance of human connection and physical touch, while celebrating the deep cultural heritage rooted in Nanushka’s Hungarian origins.

Why are lab-grown diamond anniversary rings so special?

Sponsored content

Anniversaries mark the celebration of love, commitment, and shared memories. Traditionally, couples have commemorated these milestones with diamonds—a timeless symbol of enduring affection. However, the increasing popularity of lab rings is transforming how couples express their devotion. These rings are beautiful and affordable and represent a modern, ethical choice in an era where sustainability matters.

The popularity of lab-grown diamonds is rising, with more couples choosing them for their anniversary rings each year. This growing trend is due to increased awareness of natural diamonds’ ethical and environmental issues and the desire for affordable luxury. As more people recognize the benefits of lab-grown diamonds, their appeal continues to expand, making them a popular and unique choice for commemorating anniversaries.

The Beauty of Lab-Grown Diamonds for Anniversary Rings

Lab-grown diamond anniversary rings are a testament to human ingenuity and the power of science. They represent the cutting-edge technology that makes it possible to create something as beautiful and enduring as a diamond in a laboratory. This innovation is not just about the gemstone itself but also about how we think about luxury, value, and sustainability.

By choosing a lab-grown diamond, couples embrace a future where luxury and ethics coexist, making their anniversary celebration a nod to progress and innovation. Here are the top reasons why they are so special:

  • Unparalleled Beauty and Quality

Lab-grown diamonds are virtually identical to natural diamonds in physical, chemical, and optical properties. Created in controlled environments, they replicate the natural diamond formation process, resulting in equally stunning gemstones. Lab-grown diamond grading uses the same criteria as natural diamonds—cut, color, clarity, and carat weight—ensuring they exhibit the same brilliance and sparkle. These diamonds have fewer flaws and higher quality, making them desirable for anniversary rings.

  • Affordable Luxury

Natural diamonds are rare and expensive due to the extensive mining process and the traditional supply chain. In contrast, lab-grown diamonds are affordable, allowing couples to select larger or higher-quality stones without exceeding their budget. The ability to purchase a more substantial or intricately designed ring enables couples to express their love and commitment better without financial strain.

  • Ethical and Sustainable Choice

Traditional diamond mining can lead to environmental degradation, human rights violations, and conflict, often referred to as “blood diamonds.” Lab-grown diamonds, on the other hand, are created in laboratories with minimal environmental impact. They require less energy and resources, reducing the carbon footprint associated with their production. For couples prioritizing ethics and sustainability, lab-grown diamond anniversary rings offer a guilt-free way to celebrate their love.

  • Symbolism of Modern Love

Choosing a lab-grown diamond anniversary ring is not just a statement of style but reflects modern values. Today’s couples often prioritize sustainability, social responsibility, and innovation. A lab-grown diamond symbolizes a forward-thinking approach to life and love, representing a commitment to each other and the planet. This modern symbolism adds more meaning to an already significant gift, making it even more special.

  • Customization and Personalization

Lab-grown diamonds offer greater flexibility in customization and personalization. Because they are more affordable and readily available, couples have more options to design a ring that perfectly suits their taste and style. Whether it is a unique setting, an unconventional cut, or the addition of colored gemstones, the possibilities are endless. This level of personalization allows couples to create a one-of-a-kind ring that genuinely represents their relationship, adding a personal touch that makes the anniversary ring even more special.

  • Future-Proof Investment

While natural diamonds have been a traditional investment, lab-grown diamonds are a wise choice for the future. As the market for lab-grown diamonds continues to grow, their value and acceptance are steadily increasing. This trend indicates that lab-grown diamonds will hold their value over time, making them a smart investment for couples looking to celebrate their anniversaries with a ring that will last a lifetime.

Final Thoughts

Lab-grown diamond anniversary rings are unique for many reasons. They offer the same beauty and quality as natural diamonds at a more affordable price while representing a commitment to ethical and sustainable practices. These rings symbolize modern love, allowing couples to express their values and style meaningfully. With their growing popularity and the increasing demand for sustainable luxury, lab-grown diamond anniversary rings are an exceptional choice for celebrating love and commitment.

The art of body modification. Piercing trends in 2024-2025

piercing trends 2024

Sponsored content

The world of body modifications continues to amaze with its diversity and inspire people. Piercing in 2024 not only maintains its popularity but also introduces new trends that captivate different age groups. Experienced piercers from VEAN TATTOO will share the latest trends and highlight which body modifications will be most popular in the 2024-2025 season.

Ear piercings

piercing trends 2024

Ear piercing is perhaps the most popular body part for piercing, with hundreds of thousands of people getting their ears pierced every day worldwide. The appeal of ear piercing is that you have the freedom to choose how daring and bold your body modification will be. This season definitely sets the trend for a chaotic group of piercings scattered across the ear in a way that mimics constellations in the sky. In this approach, it’s important to choose the right jewelry in advance; otherwise, instead of a constellation, you’ll end up with a messy look.

Helix, tragus, daith and industrial also do not lose their relevance – these types of piercings always look bold and beautifully emphasize any image that can be diversified with new jewelry.

Accent Piercings: Smiley, Cheeks

piercing trends 2024

The smiley piercing speaks for itself. This piercing becomes visible when a person smiles, as it is done on the upper lip frenulum. It’s a great choice for those who want to add a touch of mystery or playfulness to their look. Cheek piercings are not typical but very charismatic, mimicking dimples on the cheeks. If you want to catch everyone’s attention, go for cheek piercings. Trust us, it’s impossible to take your eyes off such beauty.

Nostril and Septum – Nose Piercings

piercing trends 2024

Nose piercings, such as nostril and septum piercings, are all about stability. Nose piercings remain trendy year after year. Similar to ear piercings, you can go the classic route with a nostril stud or create a composition with multiple piercings, like both nostrils and the septum, which looks very intriguing and bold. The key is to choose the right jewelry that enhances your beauty.

The cherry on top of our unconventional cake – microdermals

piercing trends 2024
Source: VEAN TATTOO

Microdermals stirred up the industry back in the 2000s with their debut. Elegant, airy, beautiful, and delicate – these gems on the body are not as simple as they seem at first glance and require more attention than regular piercings. A microdermal consists of a subdermal anchor (a flat plate) and an interchangeable top. Despite their delicate appearance, microdermals require meticulous care and attention. They should not be placed in areas frequently subjected to friction from clothing or hair. Additionally, this type of piercing needs professional cleaning by a piercer every six months. Ignoring these recommendations will significantly shorten the lifespan of your jewelry and result in an unpleasant experience.

Piercing trends may change over time, but their temporary popularity isn’t what matters most. It’s about how you can use these trends to express yourself. The real value of piercing is in its ability to mirror your inner essence. Don’t hesitate to experiment and showcase your personality through body modifications.

Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan shined in Hungarian Nanushka dress

Hungarian Nanushka is among Europe’s fastest-growing fashion brands. So, unsurprisingly, even the Irish actress chose one of their coats to wear during the Washington Post shooting.

Nanushka wanted to dress up Nicola Coughlan

According to Bors, a Hungarian tabloid, the actress became world-known with the Bridgerton series. The third season started this May, and Coughlan is one of the main protagonists in the series centred around the family.

Bors says the Hungarian fashion brand aimed to dress up the Irish actress. Nanushka mixes sustainability with elegance in a modern style. We wrote in 2021 that they opened a new store in London, where Hungarian Foreign Minister Szijjártó cut the ribbon and talked about the importance of the success of such internationally successful initiatives. Before, they opened a store in New York.

A brand-new material was born

Nanushka products are available at more than 500 resellers in 50 countries. The brand’s online sales extend to more than 100 countries, the Hungarian News Agency wrote then.

Szandra Sándor and her team offered Coughlan to make a unique dress for her. That is how the chocolate brown Okobor™ was born, made of Nanushka-developed vegan leather. Okobor™ is an innovative material made of 56% recycled polyester and 44% polyurethane. The material won the prestigious PETA Fashion Awards. It is produced with a dry process, reducing water consumption by 80%, and has a GRS certificate confirming its environment-friendly characteristics.

Coughlan’s fight against body shaming

According to Bors, the coat symbolises Nanushka’s commitment towards modern design and sustainability. Nicola Coughlan’s choice represents that sustainable fashion can be ethical and outstandingly stylish, as well.

Is it worth shopping at the Hungarian Primark?

Hungarian Primark store

“Amazing fashion, amazing prices” – says Primark. The prices are undoubtedly low in other countries where the fashion brand is present. However, there were concerns that due to Hungary’s currency and exchange rates, items might be more expensive at the Hungarian Primark store. Primark opened its first store in Hungary on the 28th of May. Here is everything you need to know about Primark and its pricing.

Major hype

As Szeretlek Magyarország reports, the opening of the very first Hungarian Primark store was preceded by major hype. Many people expressed excitement on various social media platforms and relief that they no longer need to leave the country to do their Primark shopping. A similar hype was present in the country when other big Western chains, such as McDonald’s and Starbucks, arrived in Hungary.

If you have not heard about Primark before, it is an Irish fashion brand that promises great quality at low prices. While the quality is for you to judge, the prices are undeniably low.

The opening of the first Hungarian Primark

The first Hungarian Primark store opened its doors on Tuesday at the Aréna Mall. On opening day, queues stretched for hundreds of metres inside the mall. Some people waited for hours to see the new store for themselves. Even for those who managed to get in, huge crowds were waiting at the fitting rooms and cash registers. The following day, the crowd was significantly smaller, but by around noon, hundreds of people were still waiting to get in. Despite this, the security staff managed the situation smoothly.

Constant restocks

The Hungarian Primark is set to continue drawing interest in the coming weeks. Those avoiding the initial rush can visit later without missing out, as products are restocked every evening. Despite the first day’s surge, nothing went out of stock. Children’s T-shirts with cartoon characters, women’s summer items and home goods like bed linen and candles were quickly snapped up. In the men’s department, underpants were the most popular.

The prices

In the women’s department, T-shirts are priced at HUF 1,300 (EUR 3.34), and packs of seven training socks are available for HUF 2,200 (EUR 5.65). Straw hats cost HUF 2,200 (EUR 5.65), summer dresses are HUF 8,000 (EUR 20.54) and bikinis start at HUF 1,100 (EUR 2.82). Bags are around HUF 4,000 (EUR 10.27), with scarves available for HUF 1,100 (EUR 2.82). In the men’s department, T-shirts start at HUF 1,100 and shorts at HUF 3,800 (EUR 9.76). Jeans are priced from HUF 6,500 (EUR 16.69), and the cheapest swim trunks are HUF 2,600 (EUR 6.68). Sunglasses are truly a bargain at HUF 740 (EUR 1.90).

Szeretlek Magyarország also notes that the Hungarian Primark’s prices are similar to those of the Polish LPP group’s Sinsay, which is already present in Hungary. In some cases, one might be a bit cheaper than the other, but the overall price range and the atmosphere of the shops are the same.

VIDEO: Hungary’s first Primark store opens to huge crowd

primark in Hungary

The first Primark store in Hungary opened today, drawing a massive crowd to the Arena shopping centre. Videos of the opening event have also been shared online.

The first Primark store in Hungary opened today

Days before the official opening, groups were already organising shopping trips to be among the first to visit the new Budapest store. The store opened at 10:00 in the morning, but there was already a queue of shoppers waiting outside. To mark the occasion, store employees waved flags to music, creating a festival-like atmosphere, as seen in the videos from the site.

The crowds were particularly dense in the queue outside the store, as the number of shoppers inside was limited for security reasons. According to video reports, the number of people queuing for the opening surged, leading to the erection of a long cordon in front of the store. The video shows that as some people finished shopping, others were allowed into the store in groups.

As reported by VG.hu, Maciej Podwojski, Primark’s manager for Central and Eastern Europe, stated earlier that they anticipate customers from neighbouring countries but are primarily focusing on Hungarian consumers.

The store in Budapest covers 3,100 square metres and was built with an investment of eight million euros (more than three billion forints). The Hungarian investment created 180 jobs.

When asked about plans for another Hungarian store, Primark’s top executive said, “Our heart, soul and mind are focused on the Primark store in the Arena Mall, but we are also listening to customer feedback. Hungary is not a small country; I personally believe it could support another store. We will see what the future brings.”

Primark is a highly popular chain, with many Hungarians previously travelling to Vienna to shop there. Hungary was one of the few countries in the region without a Primark store. In 2019, the company opened its first store in the Central and Eastern European region in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

The fashion chain has since opened stores in Slovenia, Poland, the Czech Republic, Romania and Slovakia. Following the Budapest opening, Primark will continue its regional expansion, with new stores set to open in Timisoara, Romania; Prague, Czech Republic; and Bydgoszcz, Poland, over the next year.

PRIMARK in Hungary – Update

According to the latest reports, the length of the queue has reached some 200 metres, so we suggest you visit the shop on another day.

Choosing the Perfect Men’s Designer Shirt

  1. Identify Your Body Type: Before purchasing a men’s designer shirt, it’s crucial to understand your body type. Different designer brands may cater to specific body shapes, so knowing whether you have a slim, athletic, or broader build can help narrow your options. For instance, slim-fit shirts are ideal for slender frames, while regular or tailored fits may better suit broader shoulders and chests. By recognizing your body type, you can select a shirt that enhances your silhouette and provides optimal comfort.
  2. Consider Fabric and Quality: The fabric of a men’s designer shirt plays a significant role in its overall look, feel, and durability. High-quality materials such as Egyptian cotton, silk, or fine linen offer superior comfort and lend a luxurious touch to the garment. Additionally, pay attention to details such as stitching, buttons, and finishes, as these aspects reflect the shirt’s craftsmanship and longevity. Investing in a well-made designer shirt ensures both style and durability, making it a timeless addition to your wardrobe.
  3. Evaluate Design and Style: Designer shirts come in various designs, patterns, and styles to suit different occasions and personal tastes. Consider whether you need a formal dress shirt for professional settings or a casual button-down for more relaxed outings. Pay attention to details such as collar styles, cuff designs, and subtle embellishments that contribute to the overall aesthetic of the shirt. Whether you prefer classic solids, bold prints, or sophisticated patterns, choose a design that reflects your style and versatility.
  4. Ensure Proper Fit: The fit of a men’s designer shirt is paramount to its overall appearance and comfort. Take accurate measurements or try on different sizes to find the perfect fit for your body shape. Look for shirts that provide enough room for movement without being too baggy or restrictive. Pay attention to the sleeves’ length, the shoulders’ width, and the contouring around the chest and waist area. A well-fitted shirt not only flatters your physique but also allows you to move with ease and confidence.

Matyódesign: clothes and accessories with breathtaking matyó embroidery

Matyódesign clothes and accessories with breathtaking matyó embroidery

Even if you have never been to Matyóföld, you have probably heard of one of the country’s most famous Hungarikums, the matyó embroidery. Over the years, fewer and fewer people have been able to uphold this tradition, but we can always find an exception.

How was Matyodesign born?

Bien.hu tracked down one of the last persons who makes her living out of matyó embroidery. Rozi Váczi was the one who not only dreamt of revitalising this unique craft but also established a brand based on it. Thanks to her efforts, the splendid hand-made items of matyó embroidery design are easily accessible to people near and far. But how did this idea pop up in her mind? Well, once upon a time, little Rozi was spending her childhood in Tard, one of the three matyó villages in the Hungarian countryside, where she was surrounded by these special embroideries. However, often, you only realise the value of something once you’ve lost it, just as it happened to her. This is where the importance of “second chances” in life comes in. After Rozi gave birth to her first child in her thirties, she suffered from depression. With the support of her family, she was sent back to Tard in the hope of recovery. During her time there, she had to find a birthday present for her husband. She got the idea to ask her old nanny to create an embroidery for one of his t-shirts. We can call it true inspiration because this was the turning point when the idea of matyó embroidery design was born.

So, without a doubt, Tard has become the centre of the project, where nowadays forty-five embroidery specialists create gorgeous pieces. Still, how did it become a fashion trend? The secret is that these embroideries are combined with modern, stylish items like dresses, coats, jeans, dress shirts, handbags and backpacks. All of them are extraordinary; this is a fact. But the question is, who are the target customers? Technically, anyone who values this tradition and is willing to pay a higher price for quality and uniqueness.

Matyó embroidery at its finest

Although each piece is unique, since matyó embroidery is a heritage, there are predetermined restrictions when it comes to the patterns. “In total, seven colours are used, and their usage is specified. For example, the matyó rose always has to be red with a little blue and a yellow dot in the middle,” explains Rozi. Another high-valued feature of the Matyodesign products is their quality, as mentioned earlier. These embroideries are durable enough to remain intact for decades, providing their beauty to their wearers in the long run and making the customers’ style timeless.

If you are inspired by the Matyodesign brand and the tradition it represents, you can do more than just purchase a few new clothing items and accessories. Tours are available to Tard for everyone who would like to gain insight into the everyday life of the embroidery professionals. You can become familiar with their amazing work, while you enjoy the tranquil rural setting as a retreat from your busy city life. In the meantime, hopefully, you will be able to unwind, forget about your phone, and simply go with the flow offered by the village. Once you find your “turning point” like Rozi Váczi, and you would like to spend more time in Tard, starting this September, you have the chance to stay at the recently opened guesthouse. And you will be in for a treat!
