Govt-Opposition Gap Remains Level In June

Budapest, June 25 (MTI) – Party preferences of the Hungarian population remained much the same in June as in the previous month, a poll by Tarki revealed.

The ruling Fidesz-Christian Democrats alliance had 34 percent support among the whole population, up from 33 percent in May, the pollster said today. The opposition Socialist Party and radical nationalist Jobbik had 9 percent support each, down from 10 percent in May. Leftist DK had 4 percent, LMP and E-PM 2 percent each in the whole sample, Tarki said.

The percentage of people uncertain in their affiliation or unwilling to vote came to 39 percent, the same as in May.

Among decided voters, Fidesz-KDNP had 56 percent support, up from 54 percent in May. The Socialists had 17 percent, up from 16 percent and Jobbik 17 percent, up from 15 percent in this group. DK had 4 percent support in May and 6 percent in June. E-PM added two points to 4 percent and LMP was on 4 percent in both months in this voter group, Tarki said.
