Hungarian successes at the Zagreb World Festival of Animated Film – VIDEO

The animation department of the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design Budapest (MOME Anim) received the Best Animation School Award at the Zagreb World Festival of Animated Film, also known as the Animafest, librarius.hu reports.

Each year, the jury of the Animafest awards the educational institution that submits the best films for selection. This year, two diploma projects from MOME Anim were selected for the festival: Éva Katinka Bognár’s film Hugo Bumfeldt, which was also awarded the Prize of the Children’s Jury at the International Short Film Festival in Oberhausen, and Nadja Andrasev’s The Noise of Licking, which won a joint 3rd prize at the Cannes Film Festival. The latter also received a Special Mention in the Student Films Competition at the Animafest.

According to anim.mome.hu, the jury praised MOME Anim for being “an art school that clearly and successfully fosters creative animation, an artistic style in which Eastern European cinema has traditionally achieved its animation peaks. […] MOME Anim’s student animation entries at this festival testify to a top level of excellence in exploring most diverse animation techniques.”
