Hungary guest of honour at Slovakia’s most prestigious book fair
Slovaks and Hungarians are in agreement about the need for a European Union with strong member states that preserve their culture and traditions, a Hungarian foreign ministry official said on Thursday at the Biblioteka international book fair in Pozsony/Bratislava, where Hungary is a guest of honour.
Tamás Menczer told the opening event of Slovakia‘s most prestigious book fair that books played an important role in promoting culture and preserving national identity.
Beyond being a neighbouring country, Slovakia is an important friend and partner for Hungary, he said.
He added that coinciding with the fair, Slovak translations of more than twenty Hungarian literary works have been prepared, including works by ethnic Hungarian authors living in Slovakia.
