VIDEO: Serbian protesters in Kosovo cheer Viktor Orbán
During Monday’s unrest in northern Kosovo, there was a moment when Serbian protesters loudly cheered Viktor Orbán, Hungary’s Prime Minister.
In the video below, from 04:02, you can hear the crowd chanting “Ajmo Orbane”, which means “Go Orbán!”
Hvg.hu mentions that it is hard to decide whether the cheering was due to the Hungarian government’s policy regarding Serbia or to the Hungarian flag on the plexiglass shield of one of the NATO soldiers facing the protesters.
The unrest erupted after several Serb-inhabited areas of Kosovo refused to recognise the results of the April by-elections for local government.
The protests escalated, and after a while, enraged Serbs attacked NATO soldiers, including Hungarians, who were carrying out policing duties. Meanwhile, on the Kosovo-Serbian border, the Serbian army was deployed. The Albanian authorities in Kosovo are pushing for the appointment of Albanian mayors, despite opposition from the EU and the US.

The Serb minority boycotted the elections, resulting in ethnic Albanian candidates being elected. This is the fault of the Serb majority for not participating. Now they want to revolt and violently attack the democratically elected mayors. Sounds like the local Serbs are provoking violence and the Serbian government is ready to support it.
One could speculate on why this is happening now, when Serbia’s best friend is being pummeled by Ukraine. Two fronts? Where will Hungary stand with its’ two best friends provoking violence?
Kosovo problem can easily be fixed. Return land occupied by ethnic Serbians to Serbia.
you only hate serbia and ukraine because your romanian masters ordered you so. your land is in romania and slovakia, your satanist parters, waiting for you there. any claim in serbia or ukraine will extend even more the romanian influence, turning you from a pesky little bug to a dead little bug. you know smart politics when you see them.
@mariavontheresa:
Are you aware that Kosovo’s ethnic Serbian population is a mere 4 p.c. (roughly 74,500), while 92 p.c.(roughly, 1.662 MILLION) are ethnic Albanian, but the very very vocal ethnic Serbs (and the Vucic government) want ALL of Kosovo (including the 92 p.c. ethnic Albanians!).
By the same token, it could be argued that Serbia should return parts of Vojvodina land (mostly Bácska) occupied by ethnic Hungaraians. Let’s take that (your notion) a step further, Ukraine should return Transcarpathian land occupied by ethnic Hungarians too. Problem can be ”easily fixed” eh?
