Visa reform: non-EU citizens will have to pay, get new authorisation to enter Hungary
A new visa system will be introduced in Hungary, affecting all non-EU citizens. The idea is not Hungarian, but a joint measure of the European Union. Furthermore, it will enter into effect in 2024. Media says that is how ‘Brussels’ would like to ‘tax’ non-EU nationals. The price you will have to pay is not high, but it’s the numbers that pay.
According to CNN, the European Commission, the so-called ‘government’ of the European Union, will charge every non-EU national for a new visa-waiver system. According to the plans, that will enter into effect in 2024.
The original idea was to implement it this November, but the American news outlet said the Commission pushed it back to 2024. The so-called ETIAS visa waiver scheme “will require all non-EU passport holders to get pre-trip permission to enter the bloc.” It is important to mention again that all the 27 EU member states will use the system, not just the members of the Schengen zone. Thus, even UK nationals will have to get permission.
Thankfully, the procedure will be fast, and you can reach and fill the form online. However, it will affect citizens from more than 60 countries, from where you currently do not need a visa to enter the EU. You just come, for example, to Budapest, show your passport, and you are free to do what you wish. From 2024, you will need to acquire an online authorisation before your trip. CNN says it will work like the United States ESTA program.
Despite the fast procedure, you will have to pay. The authorisation will cost you EUR 7. Fortunately, the document will remain valid for three years. Meanwhile, ESTA to the USA costs EUR 20 and expires in just two years.

7 euros are a joke
Well Hungary can leave the EU, and be visa free., Likely even with the Russian federation. No one will stop Hungary,. In fact the opposite. We would wish you well, and thanks for leaving.
Going to Europe, always we spend in Hotel, food, drink, entertainment, gifts, transportation etc. plus fees and taxes. I think it is enough.
Another harebrained E.U. initiative, true to form. The Western immigration “system” boggles the mind: Milk and abuse those who do things by the book while those who don’t get to just waltz across the border, no passport, no visa, no nothing, and they get a whole bunch of freebies at taxpayers’ expense, including the bill for their legal fight to not be kicked out. It’s as comical as it is mind-blowing!
So much for the Permant Residence Visa…..
1. Has nothing to do with a permanent resident visa.
2. Since Hungarians are so concerned about keeping people out of the country how can this be a bad idea?
3. If a 7 euro filing fee every three years seems too expensive, perhaps it’s because you live in the poorest country in Europe?
4. If Hungary were to leave the EU what would Orban have to complain about?
5. PLEASE leave…
