Beside the Hungarian State Opera House, the White House, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Van Gogh Museum and the Kunsthistorische Museum can be visited beside many others.
The Opera House was designed by the famous Hungarian architect, Miklós Ybl in the 19th century. The construction was funded by the city of Budapest and the Emperor of Austria-Hungary Franz Joseph. The building was finished and opened to public in 1884.Â
The Opera House was built in neo-Renaissance style with some Baroque elements. There are paintings and sculptures of famous Hungarian artists such as Bertalan Székely and Mór Than. Although in size it is not among the first, the acoustics of the Opera House is one of the best in the world. The auditorium is shaped as a horseshoe and has the capacity of 1261 people.
The opera season is from September to June each year and the Opera House is the home of the Hungarian National Ballet as well.
If anyone would like to visit it there are guided tours every day in six languages (English, German, Spanish, Italian, and French beside Hungarian).
