2023 starts with record temperatures in Hungary
As expected, the daily national heat record was broken today. In the subtropical air mass from the southwest, temperatures reached highs between 12 and 19 degrees Celsius in the sunniest parts of the country, the National Meteorological Service (OMSZ) wrote on Facebook.
In the end, the highest temperature was 18.9 degrees Celsius in Sellye, which was 1.4 degrees higher than the daily high of 17.5 degrees Celsius recorded on this day last year in Főnyed, they pointed out. They also noted that about 15 of their stations recorded higher temperatures on Sunday compared to the old highs, 24.hu reports.
In Budapest, the daily temperature record was not broken as it was 0.7 degrees Celsius lower than last year’s 13.7 degrees. The OMSZ added that tomorrow’s national record of 2 January is almost guaranteed, as it is only 16.4 degrees Celsius from 1992.
