2024 to be record year for Hungarian tourism
Great news on Hungarian tourism: Hungarian accommodations recorded 7.1 million guest nights in the first three months of 2024, up by 14 percent from the same period last year, raising hopes that 2024 would become a “record year”, the Hungarian Tourism Agency (MTÜ) said in a statement on Thursday.
2024 record year in Hungarian tourism?
The number of guests grew by an annual 18 percent to 2.9 million, according to data collected through the national data service centre (NTAK) for tourism accommodations, MTÜ said.
The number of domestic travellers was up by 14 percent from the first quarter of 2023, at over 1.5 million. Travellers have spent 3.3 million guest nights at accommodations, MTÜ said.
Foreign travellers spent 3.7 million guest nights, 16 percent more than last year, the statement said. The number of foreign guests was up by nearly 25 percent, at 1.4 million.
All national indicators on accommodations have surpassed those in 2019, MTÜ said.
Accommodations have generated nearly 160 billion forints (EUR 411.2m) in revenue, up by 17 percent compared with the same period last year.
