370,000 refugees registered in Hungary
Budapest, September 19 (MTI) – Some 370,000 refugees have been registered in Hungary so far and western European countries are entitled by international law to return these people to Hungary, daily Magyar Nemzet said on Monday citing the government office chief.
János Lázár has given an interview to the paper during his campaign trail and it will be published in full on Tuesday.
This year alone, 28,000 migrants arrived at Hungary’s borders and only 5,000 filed for refugee status, the daily said.
Lázár said Hungary would not quit the European Union even if the “no” vote wins at the Oct 2 referendum about EU migrant quotas and “if Brussels still wants to force a quota on Hungary”.
