5 amazing new places to visit at Lake Balaton this May! — PHOTOS

In order not to bring only negative news about Lake Balaton to the table, we have gathered up 5 newly opened culinary spots around the Hungarian sea that you should not miss. This list is based on the article of Funzine.

1. á table at Tihanyi Gasztrokert

The Gasztrokert food court in Tihany opened its doors last year. Now, with the start of the tourist season on 1 May, the gastro garden was joined by the increasingly popular ‘á table’ bakery.

“Tihany’s most delicious garden!”,

says their slogan.

2. Bonita Stúdió Siófok

This culinary establishment is one of the most peculiar and unique places we have ever visited. You will certainly not find it at every corner. This pilates and champagne bar is a one-of-a-kind concept where you can break a sweat and savour some delicious drink creations afterward. Pregnant women who wish to stay fit are also welcomed, with special, organised courses.

3. Picitmás Étterem és Manufaktúra

The name of this Balatonszőlős-based place suggests that it is just a ‘tad bit different’ from your ordinary restaurant. Even their Facebook page was created at the beginning of March which also proves that it is a brand new establishment. Picitmás Étterem és Manufaktúra opened its doors on 12 May and it will retain some of the characteristics of its beloved predecessor’s hospitality – it took the place of Papok Borozója or Priests’ Wine Cellar – but will also offer something new and exciting!

4. Bivstro

The latest farm-to-table restaurant in Veszprém has just opened! Nestled at the bottom of an old shopping centre, visitors have to keep their eyes open to find it. The ingredients they use to prepare their fresh, seasonal and beautifully presented dishes directly come from the farmers. 

As the name suggests, there is a big emphasis on buffalo meat dishes – you can taste fantastic buffalo burgers and buffalo stew here!

5. Madárlátta Pékség
