PLEASE – authoress, respectfully but your opening sentence of – “Budapest is renowned for it’s vibrant culinary scene” is “over the top”.
If I was asked, and we can dine 5 star plus, which we do in “other” European cities, preferred over Budapest, Hungary our place country of residency, the word I would choose is it’s BLANDNESS lacking taste’s of the respective cuisine(s) you choose, to be “bought out” enhanced – that “touch” your taste buds and inspire you to savour enjoy the dish or dishes of your menu choice.
There is a lack of “colour & movement” in the presentation style of cuisine in the “upper” thought of dining restaurant establishments in Budapest, Hungary.
BLANDNESS – the need to develop from the foundation of the cuisine of your choosing, to expand – bring out all that the dish of your choosing has to GIVE.
This I find lacks greatly in the Budapest “scene” – in the “Fine Dining” restaurants inclusive of “upper class” Hotel Dining Rooms.
The NEED to taste, the sauces, that BRING out leaving you excited and eager for your next taste and that it leaves you at the end of your meal with memories that enable you to say – that was BLOODY DELICIOUS – Exquisite.
YES even to supermarket shop in Budapest, Hungary, the “upper” class “minimal” number there are, better quality and choices, but YOU pay heavily un-reasonable for it.
The overall choice of FOODS in Budapest, Hungary compared to NUMBERS of “other” European Country’s – bit like 3rd World – daylight hours behind many other country’s.
Sad really, like in Aachen, Germany recent weeks, day trip out of Maastricht, Holland, came across street vendor – Jacket Baked Potato with “fillings” of – I had, garlic butter, sour cream, cheese and coleslaw – in Budapest this type of “street” Food just all about – what Pizza to choose from – YUCK.
I love a GOOD Pizza occasionally, but not as FOOD weekly on the household menu.
Budapest, Hungary – you HAVE to DO better, like sausage street vendor, like a “Coburger Bratwurst” or when you visit Coburg in Germany – they are delicious and have a History, and numerous other German Cities – European cities BROADSHEET – the street VENDORS food, compared to Budapest, Hungary – FANTASTIC.
