Cluj Hungary Days “messenger” of Hungary-Romania cooperation, says Szijjarto

(MTI) – The Hungarian Days event in Cluj (Kolozsvar) serves as a “messenger” for Hungarian-Romanian cooperation, the state secretary of the Hungary’s foreign affairs and trade ministry said on Sunday.

Peter Szijjarto spoke to MTI over the phone in Cluj in central Romania where he attended the event which was organised for the fifth time and ended on Sunday.

He noted there were significant changes going on in the world on the whole, and the goal was that “in this new world order Central Europe, including Hungarians and Romanians, should belong among the winners.”

He called good cooperation between Hungary and Romania an important component to a well-operating Central Europe.

He called it a success in Hungarian-Romanian bilateral relations that the first dual-carriage way link between the two countries would be created this year and that the two countries’ governments had reasserted their positions on building 12 new border crossing stations.

Szijjarto called the ethnic Hungarian community living in Romania the most important link in bilateral cooperation.
