Jobbik says ‘national consultation’ reveals gloomy views of today’s Hungary
Budapest, February 9 (MTI) – Some 200,000 people participated in Jobbik’s recent “national consultation” questionnaire and their responses indicate that “Hungary is in a terrible state”, János Volner, the party’s parliamentary group leader, told a press conference on Thursday.
Respondents were also “appalled” by the level of corruption as well as the state of health care and education, Volner added.
Ninety percent of respondents said doctors or nurses taking tips should be prosecuted, Volner said.
According to Jobbik’s survey, the vast majority of respondents thought the incumbent government was more corrupt than the previous Socialist-liberal one.
Fully 98 percent backed the party’s proposal to establish a new prosecutor’s office to fight corruption, Volner said.
Volner said Jobbik’s consultation launched last year had involved roundtables and conferences, helping the party to boost its policymaking hinterland. A “vast number” of teachers, doctors, and civil servants have offered to contribute, he said.
