Nigerian student hospitalised in Budapest with precautions for Ebola
Budapest, September 24 (MTI) – A Nigerian female student hospitalised in Budapest is being treated for suspected malaria, though precautions linked to the Ebola epidemic are in place since she arrived from Lagos state on Sept. 8, Hungary’s health authority ANTSZ said today.
Janos Szlavik, an infectologist of the St. Istvan and St. Laszlo hospitals told public broadcaster Kossuth Radio that the student had travelled to Budapest during the 21-day period of incubation from an area where cases of Ebola have been reported. The procedures in cases of Ebola have been applied, he added.
Tests showed a severe malaria infection but she tested negative for Ebola. She is expected to be released from hospital in a few days, he added.
Szlavik noted that the initial symptoms of malaria and Ebola are very similar.

Why does the WHO even allow people to leave or enter the countries affected by the ebola virus? Obviously quarantining those nations to protect the health of the rest of the world does not rank very high on their list.
