Suzuki Scales Back Production in Hungary, Temporarily
Budapest, October 14 (MTI) – Japanese carmaker Suzuki has scaled back production at its plant in Hungary, business daily Napi Gazdasag said today.
Magyar Suzuki communications director Viktoria Ruska confirmed that the plant in Esztergom had reduced the number of shifts from two to one and that production would remain at this level until the end of the year.
She noted that production of Splash and previous-generation SX4 models had wound up and the plant was only making SX4 S-Cross and Swift models at present. Production lines are being modified to accommodate the start of production of the new Vitara model early next year, she added. The plant will re-start a second shift after production of the new model begins, she said.
Suzuki, as planned, expects to produce about 150,000 cars at the plant in Esztergom, in north Hungary, this year, Ruska said.
