Albania offers great opportunities for Hungarian firms, says government official
Budapest, April 10 (MTI) – Albania is one of Europe’s fastest developing economies and it offers great opportunities for Hungarian companies looking to do business there, foreign ministry state secretary Levente Magyar said after a one-day visit to Tirana on Monday.
Speaking to MTI by phone, Magyar said he had participated in an Albanian-Hungarian business forum promoting cooperation in the water industry. The forum was attended by representatives from 150 companies.
Magyar also attended the official opening of the new Hungarian National Trading House (MNKH) office in Tirana. The mission of the trading house will be to establish links between Albanian and Hungarian companies, he said.
On the topic of bilateral ties, Magyar noted that last week Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air launched a direct flight between Budapest and Tirana operating twice a week.
The state secretary also noted that Hungary has delegated a European Union expert to Albania’s foreign ministry to aid the preparation of the country’s EU accession talks. Magyar called Albania a “cornerstone” of stability in the Balkan region, saying that it was a “historic mistake” on the EU’s part to “ignore” the Balkans.
Albania is a “stably functioning democracy” within the region, Magyar said, reiterating Hungary’s commitment to both the country and the region’s European integration.
