Here are the entrance fees to each beach at Lake Balaton

Hajozas.hu collected all the information on the beaches of Lake Balaton and had a look at their entrance fees this summer. It turned out that there are less and less free beaches at the lake. Lately, the beach of Balatonföldvár on the Eastern shore gave up being free: adults need to pay 800 HUF (around 2.5 EUR), while the reduced entrance fee for students and old-age pensioners is 400 HUF (around 1.25 EUR).

“We want to use the taxpayers’ money to cover the expenses of the beach’s maintenance and operation, we want to do it with the help of other sources. We do not want to raise the tourism tax either” – Mayor Huba Holovits explained the reasons of the decision, which caused a serious outcry among the inhabitants and the holiday house owners of Balatonföldvár.

So far, around 1500-2000 people have attended the 3.5-hectare beach on an average hot summer day. Now some locals are afraid that some of the guests will decide to spend their holiday somewhere else, where beaches are free, for example Balatonboglár or Zamárdi.

Here is a list of the places (beaches’ names in brackets) with their prices in HUF. The beaches with bold letters do not have any entrance fee.

Prices might differ minimally from those in this list, as local governments do not always update their websites and beaches can change their prices anytime. Apart from this, the list above can serve as a good basis if you decide to spend the day on the beach.

Many beaches offer reduced prices for old-age pensioners and students, and some of them also have temporary discounts. Many of the places provide tickets that allow you to enter the beach once, and tickets with which you can walk in and out during the day. In these cases, the ticket of one entry is cheaper, of course.

Be aware, one has to pay frequently for parking near the beaches, and also pay attention to the storm-warnings to avoid tragedies.
