The number of guest nights in Hungarian hotels and lodgings grew
The number of guest nights in Hungarian hotels and lodgings grew by an annual 12 percent to 2,905,000 in June, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) said on Wednesday.
Guest nights spent by Hungarian tourists rose by 8.8 percent to 1,486,000, while nights spent by foreign visitors increased by 15.6 percent to 1,419,000.
Revenue of commercial accommodations increased 22.1 percent to 44 billion forints.
At hotels, revenue per available room jumped 24.1 percent to 13,185 forints. The average room price was up 12.1 percent at 20,593 forints.
The occupancy rate at hotels rose 6.2 percentage points from June 2016 to 64 percent.
Adjusted for calendar effect guest nights spent by Hungarian tourists were up 7.7 percent and those spent by foreign visitors were up 15 percent in June.
In January-June total guest nights were up 10.6 percent compared to the same period a year earlier, at 12,181,000.
Guest nights spent by Hungarians rose 8.3 percent to 5,791,000 and guest nights spent by foreign visitors were up 12.7 percent at 6,390,000 in the first six months of the year.
