Brokerage scandal – Quaestor chief to stay behind bars
Budapest (MTI) – A Budapest court on Sunday placed Csaba Tarsoly, head of bankrupt brokerage firm Quaestor, and two other suspects in pre-trial detention for 30 days, public television M1 reported.
Tarsoly’s legal representative has filed an appeal against the arrest, which followed the Quaestor chief’s detention late on Thursday.
On its website, the court said that detention of the suspects was necessary because threre is a risk that they could influence witnesses or hide evidence in connection with large-scale fraud and other crimes.
Gabor Papp, Tarsoly’s attorney, said he disagreed with the court’s reasoning, and voiced his client’s readiness to cooperate with the authorities in the past three weeks.
