According to hvg.hu, the heat alert ordered by the Chief Medical Officer has come into effect from Saturday to Wednesday midnight. The National Weather Service has issued a second-degree warning for three counties on Saturday so far.
The third degree, which is the largest can be ordered by the Chief Medical Officer, will be effective when the daily average temperature is expected to meet or exceed 27 degrees.
On Saturday, there will be few clouds in general, mostly sunny, dry weather is expected. The air movement remains moderate mostly. The lowest temperature is between 13-20 °C, but there will be cooler in the north-east. The highest temperature will likely be between 30 and 33 °C. It is predicted that in the next few days, the heat will continue to increase.
The medical officer’s office and the National Directorate General for Disaster Management ask that everyone should pay special attention to the increased fluid intake. You should avoid the consumption of coffee, alcohol, high-sugar-content soft drinks and fatty food. Because of the persistent heat, the healthy body also gets extreme stress, besides those who have heart and circulatory diseases, everyone can have health problems.
Their recommendation says the people participating in festivals or outdoor events should also spend a few hours in the shadow and use the cooling opportunity offered by the mist gate. Do not leave your children in the car even for a couple of minutes – they called for. Against sunburn, it is worth defend with sun cream and light, breathable clothing, but it is advisable to stay in the shadow in the hottest hours, between 11 and 15. They recommend the drivers driving cautious, because the extreme heat can cause deconcentration.
The National Public Health Service (ANTSZ) points out that the Disaster Management website has a list of available air-conditioned rooms which – depending on the opening hours – anyone can use. The ANTSZ writes: according to the current forecasts, a cold front is expected on Wednesday night which will reduce the heat.
The heat warnings of the National Weather Service and the National Public Health Service have different criteria, hvg.hu said.
ANTSZ can order three levels of warning. The highest one, the third-degree is the heat alert. This requires that according to the meteorological forecasts, the daily average temperature reaches 27 °C at least three consecutive days. This is the heat situation, it is an “extreme weather situation”, according to the government decree on this, and it justifies the taking of extraordinary measures too.
The meteorological service does not issue an alert, just a warning. The latter is based on the expected daily mean temperature for the whole day. It is yellow, or first-degree, if the daily mean temperature is above 25 degrees. It is orange, second-degree, when the daily average temperature is above 25 degrees permanently, or possibly is above 27 degrees. The red, third-degree’s criteria is that the daily mean temperature is permanently above 27 °C.
The meteorological service issued a second-degree, orange warning to Gyor-Moson-Sopron, Somogy and Veszprem Counties. UV-B radiation will also be very strong; it can reach the 7.7 value. It means that you can burn down during 15-20 minutes.
