21 injured after bus with Bulgarian plates capsizes on motorway M5
Budapest, July 14 (MTI) – Twenty-one people were hospitalised after an accident in which a bus with Bulgarian license plates capsized on motorway M5 near Szeged, south Hungary, early on Tuesday.
The bus hit the roadside ditch at the kilometre mark 133 shortly before midnight, Szabolcs Szenti, spokesman for the local county police, told MTI.
An ambulance arrived at the scene to treat 41 passengers, Szenti said. Seven people suffered serious injuries, including one in critical condition. They were rushed to hospitals in Szeged, Kecskemet, and Szentes.
Those unhurt were taken to Kistelek, where they will be picked up by another bus arranged for by their travel agency.
The bus, belonging to an unnamed international company, was on its way from Salzburg to Bulgaria when the accident happened. With the exception of an Austrian citizen, all passengers were Bulgarian nationals, people travelling on the bus told MTI’s correspondent.
