BorgWarner inaugurates engine plant in NW Hungary
Budapest, July 28 (MTI) – US automotive industry supplier BorgWarner on Tuesday inaugurated an 7 billion forint engine plant in Oroszlany, in north-western Hungary.
The plant, which initially employs 160 workers, has been moved from Szentlorinckata, in the east of the country, to Oroszlany, next door to the group’s turbocharger plant. It mainly produces engines and transfer cases used in all-wheel-drive systems of Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles. Clients also include Volvo and Volkswagen.
Managing director Bela Csonka said the investment was financed from internal funds. The plant has an area of 4,000sqms, but the potential exists for expansion.
The company plans to increase headcount by 100 over the next 4-5 years, he added.
