Hungary’s oldest citizen dies at the age of 112
According to hvg.hu, Jánosné Billik, Hungarian resident in Piliscsaba (North Hungarian region) died on 4th November at her age of 112. The beloved resident of the Hungarian town was born in 1907 in the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
She used to be a member of collectivisation parties and worked in the agricultural sector as well. She retired at her age of 70. She had three children, seven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
“Our children, relatives, friends and everyone who knew her are sending their deepest condolences to her family. The date of her funeral will be announced later, giving the opportunity to everyone to say goodbye. May she rest in peace.” – wrote the town’s deputy mayor, Beáta Bácskai in her Facebook post.
The Hungarian life expectancy is different between men and women. According to the latest research in 2017, men usually live for 72 years and women for 79 years in Hungary. This data is representative of the whole country. A Hungarian citizen’s life expectancy in unfavourable in terms of the European Union, but one still can lead a healthy lifestyle here.
Although the numbers are different in every Hungarian region. In the poorest regions (eg. North-Eastern Hungary) the life expectancy for men is only 62 years and 70 years for women. Budapest and Central-Hungary have the best average according to life expectancy, approximately 82 years for women and 78 years for men.
