Late President Goncz to be buried on November 6
Recently deceased Árpád Göncz, Hungary’s former president, will be buried on November 6, Parliament’s office said on Tuesday, citing information from the family.
At the ceremony, to be held at the Óbuda cemetery from 3pm, eulogies will be given by Imre Mécs, who had been imprisoned together with Goncz in the 1950s, and Arch-Abbot of Pannonhalma Asztrik Várszegi, the statement said.
Göncz, the first president of a democratic Hungary for two consecutive terms between 1990 and 2000, died on October 6, aged 93.
